RDTT 052: The “Sunday” Christian

In this episode we look at the “Sunday Only ” Christian.  We see how easy it is for us to fall into the trap of being the person we aught to be on Sundays when we are around other Christians, but then living as we want the other days of the week.  We discover that God’s plan doesn’t involve days off.  We don’t get time-outs.  Instead the challenge of the Christian is to actually become “a Christian”.  This means our entire lives become centered around God and His will.  Yet in our hectic world we live in this is becoming less and less the norm.

Verses used in this episode:

  • Colossians 1:10 – 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
  • Philippians 2:12 – 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,
  • Matthew 7:21-23 – 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
  • 1 Corinthians 11:1 – Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.
