RDTT 050: Stop Reading God’s Word?

In this episode we look at the idea of Not Reading God’s Word……………………………………. DOOOOO WHHHHAATTTTTTT!!!!

Yea I know pump the breaks we gonna be ok.  We decide to look at the idea of no longer reading God’s Word only but actually learning it.  We learn that we can easily read the Bible and never learn it, but we can never learn it without reading it.  We see that many people have great Zeal for God, but yet do so without a real knowledge of Him or His plan for us.  Learning God’s Word involves truly seeing the entire plan of scripture and allowing it to change who we are inside.  We must dig deep to understand the entirety of God’s plan in our lives and then live it accordingly.  We see that a lack of knowledge will only lead to our eventual condemnation.  But we also learn our true knowledge of His Word will help guide our lives and those we come in contact with.

Verses used in this episode:

  • Romans 1:21-23 – For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
  • Romans 10:1-4 – Brothers,[a] my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.[b]
  • Hosea 4:5-6 – You shall stumble by day;
    the prophet also shall stumble with you by night;
    and I will destroy your mother.My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge;
    because you have rejected knowledge,
    I reject you from being a priest to me.
And since you have forgotten the law of your God,
    I also will forget your children.
  • 1 Peter 3:15 – 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God[a] may be complete, equipped for every good work.
  • 2 Tim 2:15 –  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,[a] a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
